The property is just outside Baton Rouge, between the communities of Arlington and Iberville. The conservation servitude on this property will curtail urban encroachment by protecting approximately 37 acres from being developed.
Approximately 50% of the open/agricultural fields are rotationally planted in sunflowers, primarily used for recreational hunting. Dove and white-tailed deer are the preferred recreation; resident and migratory birds are also hunted.
Although only a small portion of the property is forested, the owners place a high degree of importance on sustainable management of forests, wildlife, recreation, and aesthetics. The owners are also addressing water quality concerns by managing the forested riparian areas in Elbow Bayou.
